After many, many years of renting, my wife and I decided to take the leap and purchase our first home. Although it was technically move-in ready, and by no means what you would call a "fixxer upper", there are definitely some things that need updating. Some updates are for practical reasons, while others were purely cosmetic and just to make us feel more at home.

Most of the improvements we chose to do are more basic updates, such as building a nice workbench for the garage, repainting a few rooms, replacing a faucet, or updating the flooring. Let's face it, although we are both moderately handy, neither of us are master woodworkers.

So, we thought that we would create this place where we can talk about the projects we take on at our new home. Maybe we can learn something along the way that helps out others like us, and maybe more experienced readers might be able to give us some pointers on how to do things a little better.
